Renee is channelling a lifelong passion for sport into her studies and setting her sights on an extraordinary future goal.
Renee, who has been involved in sport from a young age, chose the course to deepen her understanding beyond the physical side of performance. “I’ve played sports my whole life and wanted to learn more about the other aspects, such as coaching, management, planning and performance. I’ve really enjoyed my time here and feel I’ve learnt a lot.”
She praises the college’s facilities, highlighting the Sports Hall and gym as standout spaces that support her learning. Weekly practical sessions have become a highlight of her timetable, offering hands‑on experience and even the chance to get involved in coaching.
Renee credits her tutor for helping her grow both academically and personally. “Rob, my tutor, is really motivating and has made learning fun and enjoyable,” she explained.
One of her proudest achievements so far is the confidence she has developed during her studies. “I never used to feel comfortable speaking in front of people. I’ve worked on it, and now I feel much more at ease,”
Looking ahead, Renee has a bold ambition: to set a new world record as the youngest athlete to complete an Ironman triathlon on every continent. The challenge demands immense endurance, requiring a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile marathon run, typically with a 17-hour time limit.
Last year Renee competed in the European championship in Hamberg Germany and impressively crossed the finish line in 14 hours!
